i tried both dialogue options now, the one to help him, which strong somehow didnt like eventho he said 'human are weak, they should be together, thats good', and the one not to help. Having your companions use this armor and gear should make them much tougher during your travels, so it’s almost essential in the later portions of the game. I red that he likes it if youre generous to other people, and now that i found billy the fridgekid, i thought it would raise his affinity. If the item is equippable for that particular companion, so human items for a human/ghoul, dog items for Dogmeat, and super mutant items for Strong, then it should work immediately. This should be Y on Xbox One, Triangle on PS4, and T on PC. Most players will simply transfer the item over thinking the companion will equip them, but instead you have to push the button displayed at the bottom that specifically makes them equip it.
